Shepton Mallet Skatepark Opening Jam: Saturday 9th

Shepton Mallet Town Council and FreSH are delighted to announce that the new concrete skatepark, built by Maverick Industries at West Shepton Recreation Ground, is now open.

The purchase of the new park was made possible through the highly successful fundraising efforts of the Shepton Mallet charity FReSH.

The skatepark project had been in the making for a number of years and had suffered from complications, but with one final push this year the park is now complete and looks fantastic.

Robin Blyth, FReSH chairman said, “It has been no small feat of effort and with the arrival of Town Councillor Mark Hood and Deputy Town Clerk Sam Winter we were able to bring skatepark builders Maverick on-board to provide us all with an amazing facility that Shepton can be proud of for many years to come.

I would like to thank the other members of the committee, Matt Harrison and Stuart Evans for their perseverance and support to help make this a reality. I am proud of the committee’s work and I am proud of the backing provided to us from businesses within the town that enabled this to happen.”

Sam Winter, Deputy Town Clerk, said “It has been a delight to have successfully worked with FReSH and Maverick Industries to bring this top class skatepark to Shepton. The Town Council is looking forward to many more successful collaborations!”

With the build of the skatepark a success, FReSH is now turning its attention to the adjacent BMX track and new tarmac for the remaining section of the skate park.

Maverick Industries & FReSH will host an opening Jam at the park on 9th September, when there will be a chance for everyone to show off their skills, as well as some displays from the experts.
